PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Take on a leadership role within CPKC’s Engineering Department and help shape the future of our rail network. As a front-line leader headquartered in Shreveport, LA, you will oversee bridge and culvert construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget in accordance with CPKC standards. You’ll cultivate a culture of safety, reliability, and excellence by guiding both CPKC and contractor teams and supporting the efficient movement of our railway network. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Work with CPKC’s Procurement Team to develop and issue construction Request for Proposals (RFPs) and select contractors
Direct the scheduling, execution and material ordering for bridge and culvert construction projects
Plan and coordinate track block plans with Operations department
Track and manage bridge and culvert construction projects within assigned budgets
Conduct safety testing of bridge and culvert contractors to verify adherence with CPKC safety and policy requirements
Conduct audits of bridge and culvert projects to verify work completion in accordance with CPKC standards
Ensure compliance with environmental requirements and work with Environmental Team to plan work

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or general equivalency
Valid driver’s license
Minimum of 8 years of railroad bridge experience or 4 years of railroad bridge experience with bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is an
asset
Valid passport with ability to travel to U.S./CAN without restrictions
Knowledge of railroad bridge and culvert construction
Ability to effectively manage budgets and work with Procurement Team to issue construction RFPs and select contractors
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with coworkers to support effective execution of bridge and culvert construction projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in computer systems
Participate in on-call schedule for emergency response, ensuring operational coverage

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
