Your future starts here.   PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Senior Accountant, Complex Accounting is primarily responsible for accounting for treasury transactions, including hedge accounting, preparation of the consolidated and significant subsidiaries cash flow statements, assisting with monthly close and quarterly disclosure processes, and maintaining stakeholder relationships with the Treasury and Tax departments.   POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Account and forecast for treasury transactions including the company’s net investment hedge Assist with month end close and external quarterly reporting, including preparation of the consolidated cash flow statement, and consolidated statement of comprehensive income Prepare and review monthly/quarterly/annual financial analysis that supports consolidated financial results and corporate forecasts Liaise with multiple stakeholder groups within the organization including finance systems, treasury, financial planning, and tax Implement process improvements that support a timely close, forecast accuracy, and ability to report Ensure financial reporting is in compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), Tax or securities regulation, as applicable Ensure accounting and reporting process complies with applicable internal control (SOX) requirements Address and respond to queries from auditors and internal reviewers   POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field Accounting designation (CPA; CPA, CA), or near completion Minimum 3 years’ experience with complex accounting matters including statements of cash flow, hedge accounting, etc Knowledge of US GAAP (desirable) Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of accounting and reporting cycles Application Expertise (desirable): ERP/SAP, BPC, Excel, Workiva   \WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER: Flexible and competitive benefits package Competitive company pension and/or retirement plans Employee share purchase plan Annual fitness subsidy Part-time studies program   PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Background Investigation Criminal history check Education verification Professional references   BECOMING A RAILROADER: As an employee with a North American presence, the possibility does exist that the location of your position may be changed based on organizational requirements.   Management Conductor Program Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC.
