Job Description
We are seeking dependable laborers to support daily operations at the Charlotte Roadway Shop. This role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment and assisting with the movement, handling, and preparation of materials and equipment used in railroad track and shop operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with all railroad safety rules and operating regulations
Clean and maintain shop facilities, equipment, and surrounding grounds
Move, sort, and stage materials, parts, and supplies
Perform sorting and scrapping of parts and materials
Operate motorized and mechanical equipment to support shop operations
Assist skilled trades and shop personnel as needed
Equipment & Tools Operated:
Forklifts
Shop trucks
Hoists
Mechanical cleaning equipment
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Strong attention to safety and detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical stamina and reliability
Basic mechanical awareness
Minimum Qualifications:
18 years of age or older
Ability to safely lift, carry, and handle materials up to
50 lbs
Ability to operate motorized equipment safely
Willingness to perform physically demanding work
Work Environment:
Ability to work indoors and outdoors
Standing and walking for extended periods
Shop and yard environment
Work performed on and around equipment and materials
