PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As a Payroll Analyst, you'll be essential in ensuring our employees in Canada and the U.S. are paid accurately and on time, building trust across the organization. You'll manage and improve our SAP payroll processes, collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues, reconcile accounts, and contribute to a seamless payroll experience. This position can be based in Winnipeg, Manitoba or Kansas City, Missouri.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Successfully implement and manage payroll processes for all employees across Canada and U.S., ensuring timely and accurate payments
Strictly adhere to company policies and government regulations to maintain compliance in all payroll activities, maintaining payroll records and reports
Determine and resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing by reconciling earnings, deductions, and gross-to-net results, while resolving discrepancies and adhering to strict deadlines
Validate financial posting entries, monitor and resolve banking transactions or payment rejections, and liaise with banks to maintain seamless payroll operations
Monitor Crew Management Application (CMA) Interface and ensure accurate wage payments, particularly for Running Trade Employees (RTEs), by correcting and reprocessing as necessary
Process and reconcile third-party payments, including taxes, union dues, and garnishments, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timeliness
Assist in year-end processes and ensure all payroll-related tax filings are completed accurately
Provide outstanding customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries and issues

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in Payroll; Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), or progress toward these certifications, is considered an added advantage
2+ years of experience working in a payroll function processing full cycle payroll using SAP or similar payroll software
In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations and procedures with a preference for experience in both Canadian and U.S. payroll

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
